Does anyone take the lid off of their stock airbox during the winter months? Would it make a difference in power?

there are a ton of threads on this... no, you won't make any power. Even in winter months, heat soak (especially at idle) is an issue. You lose a little bit of power if nothing else. it does sound decent though... though its nothing compared to a header + tp + 70mm invidia single in a long tunnel, aka bliss

btw folks, i just ordered an AEM v2, so if anybody needs a K&N drop-in, or a stock airbox to gut, I've got one sitting here.
