Default 17 in Fikse wheels with RA-1's

I currently am driving a 2000 s with stock wheels and 205/225 RA1's. I am considering buying some 17in Fikse wheels and changing my tires to 235/255 RA1's. Will I notice a big difference in performance? If so, will it be more in the turns or straits? I don't want to roll my fenders, should I or could I go for 18 in wheels. My car is not lowered. Thanks for any advice.

You should try the Tire Forum
But....
You won't notice shit in a straight line. In the turns you'll notice a huge difference. Not sure why you're thinking you'll have to roll your fenders unless the Fikse offsets are all wrong (again, Tire Forum) and as for the 18" question...no reason to go w/18s except for looks or to run slicks or clear a massive bbk.

Fikse are high quality but not exactly light. Unless you trying to get a really custom offset or just like the look there a are better and cheaper options for improved performance.

I am more interested in performance. What wheels would you recommend that are both lighter and cheaper?

Have you considered 225/245 RA1's with the stock wheels? I ran this setup at Buttonwillow this past Saturday and loved it.

I had not considered that combination. Did you notice a big difference in the turns? BTW where is Buttonwillow? Is it a track with a lot of straightaways or turns?

Are you in Gig Harbor WA? If so go to Bremerton, Pacific Raceway in Auburn, or to Portland for track outings. Button Willow is in CA. There are several NW people that go to the track. Have fun.
