Dave, Rylan, et al.,

Registration is now ready to rock. At the OTC site, click on "Register for '03" on the menu bar. Shine the bat signal if you need help.

Wow, good luck over there in Unlimited Land Dave! Hope you've got a good source for slicks!

What class to run an S2000 in? Hmmm... it's not really right to use last year's results as a prediction for what'll happen this year, but that's really the only info we have to go on.

An Unlimited S2000...now let's see...anybody got friends at Spoon? One of their racecars would be a nice choice for U3. I don't see much hope in U2 without a really big turbo and some engine work. Not to mention drastic weight reduction. Cars can get really light when you don't have to worry about stuff like your AC, heater, window glass, lights, etc.

I think the S2000 stands its best chance in Touring 3. A well-prepped T3 S2000 would weigh about 2400lbs., have humongous tires, properly sorted suspension, and should eat its competitors for lunch on the tighter courses. It might have a hard time on the big HP tracks if anybody brings a well-modded S4, WRX, or Eclipse/Talon. Particularly the latter, where a well-prepared version would weigh ~2200lbs. and have 400+ hp! Those of you who saw the Pro Solo Finale this year know what I mean. I think the competition was a little soft in T3 last year, it should be tougher this time around.

Touring 2 is going to be tough if Kahengi comes back with his M3, which looks likely. The supercharger doesn't do for the S2000 half what a turbo does for a car like the 944, particularly in terms of midrange torque and extra power available via tuning. Imagine running against Wayne Mello's 944 on big BFG KD's! Assuming the competition stays the same, the only two S2000s in Cali that stand a chance in T2 would be Davepk's or sfphinkermc's, assuming they can maximize their wheel/tire and aero setups.

Speaking of which, I'm going to be really disappointed if nobody brings it with some movable aerodynamics this year. Chaparral 2E-style pedal operated wings would be okay, but computer/servo-controlled spoilers, wings, and undertrays would be even better.

There's no rules folks, let's see some innovation!

p.s. I'll be doing my best to get a ride for '03 - anybody with the means to properly campaign a car looking for a tire warmer/brake pad changer?

I plan to run in U3. I'm squarely in the cheating secretive bastard category.

Don't forget about Paul Mumford's S2000. I think it still has a dead motor but the rest of that car has T3/U3 trophy written all over it. Put that freak behind the wheel and he could probably trophy a level or two up.

Jason's right though. On paper, the S2000 is probably most competitive in T3. It's competition for trophies are most likely going to be E30 M3's and the S4. But, as we learned last year, the paper theories go right out of the window after the first session.

Ohhh, how exciting. All kinds of Cheating Bastard plotting going on here. Sounds like a great showing from our professional-class S2000 stable.

Can I come along and be a cheerleader?

Notice Besides Me, Dave and Erik. If any other s2k teams from here are gonna enter please let me know. I have some details that you might be interested in.
