Default 2004 rev limiter speeds

My poor car, Marcus, hates my guts for doing what I did to him today...

First gear rev limiter is approx. 37 mph

Second gear rev limiter is 57 mph (tried this a number of times, both hard acceleration & "sneaking up" on it slowly)

Third gear is approx. 79 mph

Your results may vary

No... If you didn't do what you did today, Marcus wouldn't feel appreciated.

Good info... so yesterday's autocross course almost forced a shift to 4th gear?!? That's a potential problem.

welcome back to the posting side Annie.

I'm glad you two have an S again.

I'm suprised you can't hit 60mph in 2nd.

I'm sure you can. Keep in mind that speedometres are innacurate... all you have to do is toss all the data into a spread sheet to get the real top speed in each gear at 8,200 rpm (fuel cut).

What good is 8,200 if the fuel cutoff comes on hard? In a split second, you'd be back at 8,000 anyway. Anyone up north got a radar gun? I trust empirical observations over spreadsheets anyday. That's why I'm an engineer, not a scientist

If you're accelerating hard (the car still moving forward fast) when hitting the rev limiter, it will quickly indicate up to 60, then drop back. However, a slow, slow acceleration from 50 up will keep it right about 57.

Nope, I'm simply talking about the fact the car is still accelerating for a second when it hits the rev limiter so it will indicate higher, nothing more exciting than that.

did the normal blap-blap-blap on every run at 57

looks like either the problem was fixed or maybe the ECU is doing a better job of keeping up with the engine since it only revs to 8k. 57 mph... grumble grumble...
