Default an interesting observation....

My car has a problem like many, that when shifting into 2nd it crunches and grinds the gear often. To solve this I have been short shifting at 8500rpm. The grinding ocurred when I would shift near redline which is 8900-9000rpm.

Tonight I tried something different. I shifted at the rev limiter (9200-9300) so as to wind the gear out completely. When I do this, it NEVER grinds into 2nd gear. I'm not sure why this is, but I can shift hard and fast if I take 1st to the rev limiter and it doesn't grind.

Anyone else made similar observations at all??

Sorry about this, but when I saw "Wisconsin" as part of your name I could not help myself. The following was emailed to me today by a female friend.

A study in Wisconsin showed that the kind of male face a woman finds attractive can differ - depending on where a woman is in her menstrual cycle.

For instance: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features; and if she is menstruating, she is more prone to be attracted to a man with scissors shoved in his temple and a bat jammed up his ass.
