QUOTE (Windscreen @ Nov 3 2004, 01:00 PM)
I would have just made a mount to replace the wind deflector, but I didn't want to take any chances with wienie protests.

I was wondering about that possibility. Thanks for the info
I didn't bring my nice mount for the same reason, even though it weighs more than the windscreen. I brought a little clamp mount where you have to leave the "clamshell" open and it grips the small crossmember inside. Yom didn't dig the look or maybe the parachute effect, so I came away w/o video. It'd only have disgusted me anyhow...

BTW, nice runs. It's pretty amazing how much variance in lines and apexs you both had & yet came away with near identical times.

Did Saini/Bauer have a camera on-board?

FWIW, I think Jason, and possibly Ron, were downshifting four times. The additional spot being the right hand sweeper leading to the long, fast slalom diagnally across the middle.
Four Times!

I think we drive essentially the same car... ARE Penskes, Gendron stiffer than full stiff, generous rear toe-in... etc. I chose to not downshift specifically to focus on smoother lines and apex speeds. It seemed to work out OK for me, but I know I would have been faster if I had made the first two downshifts and done them well. I certainly could have used the power and our car was pretty well behaved in Topeka.

Maybe not as similar as you might think. My shock's valving is radically different from Guy's original valving. First revalve was a major direction change from what Guy had done, and the second revalve was an incremental tweak on the first.

I have a question. What happens when you win, do they dismantle your car to make sure you were in spec and weren't using any tricks like a chip, an illegal header, high compression pistons, etc? They do that when you win in Club Racing so I wonder if they do it in Pro Solo2. Anyone know about this?

Solo2 (And ProSolo) are competitor-policed. There is no tech shed that automatically checks for infractions. If a competitor thinks you've cheated, he has to 1) lodge a protest and 2) pay any costs to teardown/rebuild the protested part. If he wins the protest, he keeps his money. If he loses, the owner of the car protested uses the money to put it back together.
