I absolutely need to be higher than 6/10 of a tank at all times or a left hand sweeper will make me fuel starve. I've driven a bunch of 04's and they were all running like 1/4 tank or at least 3/8 tank of fuel. That's a lot of weight.

At the same time tuning is definitely more clunky and annoying with the piggyback. The Flashpro is awesome and very reliable.

Overall there's very little difference between the two though, wouldn't worry about it.

Oh and if I could tell you how many prosolo challenges I've botched because I've left traction control on...ugh, so stupid, lol.
I was running 3-4 bars on the fuel gauge towards the end of my time at Streets of Willow in my '05. No stumbles or lack of power. Of course I ran out of gas on my way to the gas station after I was done.

5. unicorn farts.

or you can get a little henna tattoo on the back of your hand with the reminder.
That will only work for maybe an event or two when the sticker looks out of place. After that my brain will fade it into the background just like the lack of vsa off light and it won't remind me anymore. But if I had an active warning system....of course I'm joking about the heads up display...I think.

I've actually been much better about it recently. I've trained myself to no matter what while I'm pushing the start button with one hand also push the vsa button with the other. It's part of the start procedure now and my brain is starting to get it.

That's the one plus side to this. I've always worried about running out of gas after a race with my other cars...never a worry with this one!

40 lbs of fuel over the tires and down low isn't going to hurt much, and is going to be in the noise. I think I'd prefer the bigger TB and IM, and easier tuning. The ricer in me likes that the engine bay is cleaner. No air valve, no cruise module etc.

I don't think the 04/05 is clearly superior to the later versions, for STR. This '07 I bought is ready-built, completely, for less than it would have cost me to build my '04. And the Hondata with the stock ECU is so much easier to deal with.

As for keeping a few gallons more gas in to avoid fuel starvation, who cares, really? At 6 pounds per gallon, that's not even noise-level in a 3000 pound car/driver combination. And I generally kept my '04 half full anyway in autocross, to avoid any chance of fuel starvation.

I remember hitting the fuel cut with nearly a full tank on both my '05 and '08, so I think its situation dependent on all models. After that, I always filled the tank until it poured out the cap. If you are going for the jacket, knowing these issues with the S2000 your going to run a full tank IMO.

Off the top of my head, the major weight differences in the 06+ are the dash due to the glovebox thingy, more electrical devices, the seats are heavier, speakers in the headrests (minimal) but it doesnt have a the air pump.

I used to be the same way, on race rubber I would always run with a full tank, so much so that on two day events I'd fill up after Saturday runs. Over this summer, on street tires, I'd gotten down to 3/4 tank with no fuel starve in my 04. This weekend Shawn and I went into day two runs with 3/4 tank and I was initially worried but after 6 runs we still had no fuel starve. Another in the class in a 04 started the day with two drivers and 1/2 tank and experienced fuel starve on long left sweepers on run two, second driver. While driving style does come into play, I'll be sure not to start less than 3/4 (with two drivers) on any given day.
