Default 2009 S2000 Challenge Series

Hey Folks,

We are resurrecting the Speed Ventures S2000 Challenge series again. The series will be a fast-lap and time trial type series for all drivers of Honda S2000 cars. The classing below is based on prior years running the series. If anyone has any input regarding the schedule, rules, or whatever, please post them here. Also, please tell all your friends about this thread!

Nothing is completely finalized, but here are the rough outlines of what we're thinking:

Here is the proposed schedule. Competitors will take the best 6 results of 9 for the year to win the overall:

January 24 - Buttonwillow Raceway (13CW)
February 8 - Willow Springs Big Track
March 6 - Streets of Willow (tbd)
April 18 - Buttonwillow Raceway (13CW)
May 10 - Streets of Willow (tbd)
June 28 - Willow Springs Big Track
August 2 - Buttonwillow Raceway (13CW)
October 11 - Willow Springs Big Track
November 8 - Streets (tbd)

Optional events to add to schedule include Infineon (march 19, 20, october 8,9) and Thunderhill (april 11) and Auto Club Speedway (several to choose) dates. These tracks seem to be less popular with the S2K crowd so I didn't think to include them.

STOCK
(We can add more allowed modification to the following if people want. Such as a wing). Let me know what you think:

Tires: up to 275 width rear tire, 101+ treadwear
Any wheels
Alignment

Stock should be for street tires, 141 treadwear or higher. I'd also limit to 255 in stock. A lot of the guys on a budget might be running the less expensive +45 RPF1's and are thus limited to 255 inside the fenders. Only the guys who have CCW's or Volk's can run 275's so that limitation would favor them.

In modified I'd make forced induction twice the points of internal mods. A $5500 Rotrex kit will make 350hp and a mountain of torque, no N/A project about the same cost will come anywhere close to that .

We'll be there doing some testing on our project car.

this should be interesting but looks like most of the competition will be in the modified class since most cars that do HPDE/time attack only have wing, coilovers, rims, and tires
