Someone needs to develope a deal like this for the East
Find a friendly club and clone the rules. Then you guys could have a yearly championship/runoffs in the middle of the country somewhere.

+1 on what Jaku said. this is what I recommend to suit most CA s2k. I've made changes to Aaron's

STOCK
philosophy: this was by far the most popular class in Miata Challenge. make sure newbie can come and play. get them hooked.

Tires/wheels: any size tires, but stock wheels only (can swap AP1/AP2), 140+ treadwear

anything that's part of maintenance are open
Alignment
brake pad
stock rotors (cross-drilling, cryo treating, etc.)
any fluid
brake lines
clutch
cat-back exhaust
thermostat
air filter
radiator (or cooling mods)
dampers (may be add spring, but no coilover)

mods that don't subtract lap time much, yet many do modify:
Any intake
Any chassis brace (X-brace, STB, etc.)
Any heat shielding (Hondata gasket, engine bay insulation, etc.)
Any hard top
any front sway bar (this would allow autocross A stock to come and play competitively)
no wing unless you have a CR
Rollbars, seats, harness or any other safety equipment allowed
Weight savings: seats can be removed or replaced, plastic necessary to install rollbar or other safety equipment can be removed, spare tire, jack/tools can be removed, battery replaced. Nothing else can be removed.

MODIFIED
philosophy: this is where the famed friendly California competition right now. everyone rushing to break 2 minutes in BW13 (few has already). idea is a streetable car with max mods. problem is where to put forced induction s2k (quite a few) in modified ? may be +2 seconds on <90 seconds track, +3 seconds on 120 seconds track ? also guys running RA1/NT01 can be penalized the same way.

All STOCK mods are allowed.
Tires must be 140+ treadwear (pls no r-compound, that will force many to trailer)

no internal engine mods
any exhaust, but must retain cat (don't want anyone get pulled over on highway with no cat)
any coilovers
any aero, wing, splitter, spoiler (provided no wider than body)
any wheels and tire sizes (provided no wider than body)
any ECU
any final drive gear
any brakes
any sway bar
any hood or trunk
camber kit
bumpsteer kit
air con / heater must remain (important to us SOCAL guys running in desert tracks)

UNLIMITED
Philosophy: Anything goes! An UNLIMITED Car must be based on a production S2000 chassis and have a production-based S2000 engine block and head.

No changes are allowed to a car unless they are listed above. If a component or other modification is listed, any type (or size) of that component is allowed, unless otherwise noted (ie. "sway bar" means adjustable or non-adjustable allowed).

On street tires, sure. Shoot me an email when you get a chance, I'm working on the 17x9 & 17x10 S2K wheels finally and would like your input.

That would be fun! I could put some stock wheels w/ old s02's on the car. LOL

395hp, 2700lbs, crappy tires.

I think it's best for S2000 owners to say "ahhh, my car is in this class", not "urrrrr, I need to do some work/spend money on my car in order to drive that class"

The less extra money they are going to spend on the car, the more budget (chances) they will come out and drive!

here is my original version with slight changes by Emilio

street stock - budegt saving class, basically using CR spec as a limit to mods, also an opening class for new S2000 drivers

power
- allow bolt-on intake
- allow cat back
- allow cooling plate or snorkel
- no EUC tuning & reflash

areo
- allow similar CR size & height wing (APR 200, Mugen wing for example, that many pp already have)
- allow similar CR size lip (APR front lip, Mugen front lip for example, that many pp already have)
- allow similar areo funtion front bumper (Amuse, ASM for example, that many pp already have them)
- no canard, no splitter, no diffuser

drivetrain
- allow any clutch kit (OE diameter, single plate only)
- must be oem gears, final drive & LSD

brakes, wheels & tires
- allow any brake fluid, pads and lines
- allow any wheel size
- limited to +40mm (+20mm each side) track increase each axle (not counting camber effect, no fedner roll needed)
- tire size limited to 225 front and 255 rear so pp can run stock wheels to be competitive
- tire must be TW140+

suspension
- limited to non-adjustable shocks
- limited to any springs under 400lb/in (under CR spec)
- allow updating or backdating oem sway bars
- allow chassis bars

others
- allow any driver & passenger seats
- intact softtop or hardtop
- weight reduction limit to spare and tools
- must have all interior panels with exception of installing aftermarket roll bar that required to remove the panels

street modified - street oriented modified but track prepared, basically u daily drive this car, but can still track it hard on daily driven tires

power
- allow any bolt-on power mods except FI
- allow any ECU tuning

areo
- allow any areo

drivetrain
- allow any gears, final drive & LSD

brakes, wheels & tires
- allow any calipers
- allow any wheel size/offset and spacers
- tire size limit to 255 front & rear
- tire must be TW140+

suspension
- allow any shocks, springs, RCA, BSK, sway bars

others
- allow weight reduction behind driver seat, battery, light weight panels
- must have all interior panels with exception of installing aftermarket roll bar that required to remove the panels

unlimited track modifed - track oriented modified but may not be fully W2W comepetition ready, basically you build this car mostly for fun track driving, hardly drive on the street, so pretty much allow anything based on reasonable stock chassy

the only S2000s that might not be covered would be those in 2nd class, but FI, we can bump them up 1 class or give them time penalty by %, I would suggest 2.5%, which is roughly 3s at Buttonwillow, 2'00 -> 2'03 (another # to compare, 2s at 120s course would be 1.7%)

Seriously! Is there a thread highlighting what you have done to the car in terms of power modifications and weight reduction krazik?

grrrrr @ west coast.
This is not "West Coast". This is "California". There is a difference. In fact, it's all southern California, even.

That being said, if you want something like this close to your home, then set it up!

(And I would vote that the CR can not run in the "stock" class. Sorry CR owners, but you deliberately bought a car that is already pre-modified!)
