I did set my wing to the lowest AoA I could, but it was still pretty slow on the banking compared to Jim (the blue Lotus above for those not running in the Central Region).

Yep, having the car setup for a wing and then removing it is going to be a recipe for oversteer (as the Lotus guys found out). This why I would use the points from the wing to run an adjustable FSB to dial it out.

Most of the wing mounts I've seen do a horrible job at accounting for the fact that the wing is positioned behind the cabin. Take the APR wings, for example. With their twisted cord, true 0 AoA (measured to the airflow) is more like when the outside sections are flat to the ground, not the inside section. I don't think the stock GTC-200 or 300 S2000 mounts get you anywhere near this. And with the camber on the wing, it will still make downforce even at true 0 AoA.

Now, whether that's worth the drag of even the trimmed out wing is still up for discussion, and the bar still may be the ticket on super highspeed tracks as long as the car itself isn't producing back end lift at those speeds.

Yep, that's was why I picked my words carefully by saying "lowest AoA possible". Even having the wing in place with zero AoA will still create some drag just from it being there... but I am fairly certain the wing is producing downforce even at the least setting it offers. I say fairly certain since I don't have wind tunnel data to back it up, nor do I plan to rent one to get the data.

FWIW, the car which had the best time at the Speedway in the class for the weekend was a wingless S2000 (who is on the forums if he sees this thread).

245 seems to be the norm as far tire size for TTB. I know that the fastest setup on the BRZ/FRS, which is pretty much the same weight, was 225's after playing with various options in the R compound options. Anyone else drop tire size to free up mod points in TTB? This would give me enough to do front and rear aero and some other items. Only downside I can think of other than loss of overall contact patch would be heat capacity and being less forgiving with over aggressive driving.

I haven't done all the calcs this year with the updated tire rules, but previously it wasn't uncommon to run a 225 A6 on a S2000 in TTB (as the other points were aero and suspension). Usually the jump in points for a A6 in a larger size made compromises in other areas so you either did an R6 (or something equivalent) in 245, or an A6 in 225.

It really comes down to building the car around the tire compound and size you desire to run.

225 R7s are zero points on a TTB base class reclass. They are also a bit wider vs a 225 A6. I definitely felt a difference going from a 245 to a 225, but I think I found a good solution to gain some width back when running a 225.

So...what is the solution?

@WynnS123 I said " I think" I've found a solution haha. It was somewhat confirmed at my last event but I will be able to truly confirm it at Texas World Speedway in about 3 weeks. (Hint: it is something SCCA limits where NASA does not)

I will be sure to send a spy to check this out.
