I went back to the stock 4.10 because with a turbo i want to stay out of 6th gear and it shouldn't have a problem with midrange.
Also a stock rear-end is cheaper to replace

For a track or autoX car I would stay with 4.10. If you are street racing I can maybe see the 4.4 or 4.7s. I am supercharged and I went to 3.9s and I still go through first and second gear like a hot knife through butter. A change to 4.4 is less than a 7% move. For the same gear at the same RPM where you were doing 50 MPH you will now be doing 46.5 MPH. Not much of a change, but your gas milage will be worse, more noise in the cabin as you will be always at a higher RPM and you will probably have a harder time trying to sell the car with the rear end changed. You also have to get a yellow box to correct your speedo. It is just not worth it, it will not make you faster on the track if that is what you are after, only your driving skills can do that.

^^ I disagree. I think the tracks that you frequent dictate your gearing. There are very few tracks that I would use 2nd gear in and I have Ap2 gearing. Most somewhat tight corners BTW 45mph and 50mph can be taken in 3rd gear with AP2 gearing. The issue with AP1 gearing is that a lot of road courses have 60mph-70mph corners where 3rd gear is optimal with Ap2 gearing whereas AP1 gearing will require shifting thus losing time.
Now AX is a different story, I think AP1 gearing does well there where AP2 gearing is stuck either at the end of first gear or end of second gear.
Thanasis is a quick driver and there's no way you can do the back technical section of MsrH in second gear, its leaving time on the table and frustrating at the same time.

NA 444s
Turbo 410s

Just my thoughts.

Agreed, there isn't one best gear. Its all up to your personal situation. Its about staying in the power-band while minimizing shifts for a track.

I wouldnt want to waste money for nothing thats for sure and the gearing is definitely a problem for me. Clearly driving better makes you faster and there is definitely improvements that can be done in that respect but just like DTP525 is saying, there is definitely some time improvements on the table that i think having the proper gearing will help. There are some slow corners where i prefer going into second gear, only to lose time by upshifting right at corner exit. if i stay into 3rd gear the car is out of the powerband and i lose more time. Also on some short straights in the "auto-x" section at MSRH, im either bouncing off the rev limiter or having to upshift and then downshift again right on the rev limiter. people with ap2 cars seem to pull off those sections in 3rd gear. how much time im going to gain in those sections by having "better" gearing i dont know. and yes, it seems like with 4.77s i will have similar problems with the 4.1, but in higher gears.

100%

4.10 is best for the track I run most frequently.

^This. I changed from 4.10 to 4.44 and it hurt my lap times at my local track because it added 4 more shifts. Unless you're changing for a specific reason I'd recommend leaving the 4.10 alone.
