Default accusump pressure control valve PSI?

Hey guys - what PSI range do you suggest for the electronic control valve for the accusump and also do you guys go with 2 or 3 qt? Canton has 20 -25ps, 35 - 40pis, and 55-60psi. I know idle for me is around 15-20 and most of the time my car at WOT is 80psi, 1/4 throttle around 60psi.

Thanks!

Justin

This has been discussed before but probably hard to search for. The consensus I believe was the 35-40psi range.

I went with the 2 quart and manual valve. That way I don't have to worry about the electronic version not opening or closing. Several people had had issues with them.

I went with the 2quart for my LS2 RX-7, wired with an on/off switch mounted on the console. I didn't want the engine overfilled with oil just idling around, so went with the 20-25psi. The pressure sensor failed, quit activating the dump valve. So I bypassed the sensor and now on the street I use the switch to pre-oil, then switch it off again at ~3000rpm, and at the track I just leave the switch on (dump valve open all the time). So basically, running mine like a manual valve, but with the convenience of being able to activate it from inside the car.

On 2nd search I found a bunch more threads, and see others using the switch, seems like the switch is extremely important. I guess I'm a little confused how it works in manual mode open all the time though. Basically it's always working and storing additional oil (if you have it turned on)?

I'm in processes of reading through the following threads if it helps others:

I have my manual valve with a cable pull to open and push to close set up. The cable mounts on the passenger side of the Trans tunnel.

Basically with the manual you open it a few seconds prior to starting. It releases the pressureized oil from the accusump for pre oiling. Once the engine is running the oil pressure fills the accusump back up. If there is a loss in engine oil pressure lower than the pressurized oil it has to reach equilibrium and it will push oil out of the accusump.

When I'm pulling back into the pits I give a rev to 4000rpm and shit the valve. It typically stores 60-80 psi at that point. Check the oil level with the valve closed and your good.

Justin, I have a 15 year old Accusump electric solenoid valve, which essentially is an electric version of the manual valve. No pressure sensors. When the switch is off, the Accusump will pressurize to what ever the engine oil pressure goes up to. I shut it off on the cool down lap or anytime other before shutting down the engine. Before starting the engine I turn on the switch to open the valve to pre-oil the engine and then I leave it on for the track session. If I am just going to idle the car to warm it up, or drive around the paddock, I use it as a pre-oiler to start the car and then turn it off, so the Accusump pressurizes for the next start up.

I am hoping that with the new baffled oil pan that I can remove this system, but will loose the pre-oiling capability. Can then put a cool suit cooler in its place and be about same weight.
