Default After several months, I still don't know what to do.....

After all the goings on lately, I'm still not sure what to do about this season of autocross. I have run my car since '08 in Bstock and can't decide what class to run this year. Help.

My setup is basic; '04 w/ gendron standard FSB, moton clubsports, and a good alignment. I need to get new street tires so I was planning to get 245/255 ZIIs.

The setup would be ideal for Bstreet and I think I'd do well nationally but, locally I don't expect that class to be well attended (with the exception of an infamous boxster driver). Being in the central mid atlantic, tours & math tours are 8 hours or more away. The close pro in DC should be well attended but I'm not a huge fan of pros or Fed Ex.

With that said, do I keep the car in Bstreet trim and have little local competition with the hopes or going to bigger events (1 or 3)? Or do I use my SOS suspension goodies for the motons and run the car is STR? I have no interest in doing a full STR setup but there are 5/6 STR cars locally at most events. They wouldn't be that much competition but at least I'd have someone to run against. National events would likely not happen in my car in STR. Which may be no big deal because they aren't necessarily easy to get to. Essentially, this year would be a write off. Fortunately I've won my regions overall championship 2 years in a row because my car is essentially not competitive overall at this point (as far as I can determine).

BSR doesn't look like it'll be an option at all. If nobody is going to run it, whats the point?

Anyway, any advise or brainstorming that might help me make a decision would be much appreciated.

Why not keep it in B Street trim and run against the local guys in STR?

^ This. If you raw time them, you win! If you don't, you have a built in excuse!

What those guys said. I also recommend buying a set of 9" wheels, or even 4 rear wheels and having some fun in STR.

Running Bstreet trim in STR is the easy button and is certainly a possibility. An extra set of wheel/tires would be great too. I could try to find milled rears to go with my extra set currently sporting hohos. hmmm, this thread may backfire on me, now I have more possibilities to consider.

Running STR in Bstreet trim is what I would do in your case. And then find a nationally competitive car in STR to codrive in. That said, if you can budget for stiffer springs, 9"wheels, Z2's and an engine tune, you will have a nationally competitive STR car for sure.

Alright, you've convinced me. It makes a lot on sense so how could you not. I have reassembled my BS shocks tonight and I'm looking forward to getting them back on the car. Next step ZIIs. I'm going to try to get to Dixie as well, in BS, as it looks like its finally getting some numbers. I do have an offer to drive a competitive CSP miata should BS not get the numbers at other events. Or run STR for the hell of it.

With your nudge I feel like I have a direction and can finally look forward to and make plans for this season. Feels good.

I will have a STR setup in mind as well. I might have the ability to get an extra set of wheels to run BS and/or STR. Looks like I'll be running in STS in Wilmington at least once this year so I'll get a little taste of that ST* flavor.

Let the games begin.

Next question street tire guys, do you get fuel starve on streets? If so, what fuels levels defeat it? I've only run on crap street tires in the last few years so it'll take some adjusting but I figure I have to lose as much weight as possible.

I like a full tank for street tires/STR to prevent fuel slosh as you cannot run on empty.

Going to hit Shawn up for an STX co-drive? We put the suspension on this weekend!

Ugh, I was hoping that wasn't the case.

Yes I am, haven't been out to his house so I figured it would be fun. How did the suspension go? He had the same decisions to make as me, he's probably a little more decisive though.
