Default Auto-x shock settings

Any of you guys want to share your shock settings?

I'm not looking for # of clicks, but a relative range you guys like to run for auto-x.

My shocks that were tuned well for the track pushed really bad at auto-x.

So I guess it would be something like, "Low Front Compression, Mid Front Rebound, etc"

Anyone want to share thier secrets?

Rebound will have a more dramatic affect on the feel of the car than will bump.

Bump I would leave on the softer side unless you feel the car is pitching/rolling too much. Bump should be tuned to keep the car flat in transitionary maneuvers like a slalom.

Rebound is generally run full stiff in the front, with the rear rebound being the most important tuning touch. More rebound there will help the car rotate, and make it respond quicker in transitions and slaloms. Too much and the car will oversteer and/or spin the inside rear. Here's where more front swaybar (or spring if you can) helps...

Why don't you just bring it out on the slicks? Could be fun...

no slicks because I wanted to run in OSP. Must run DOT tires.

I run alot of compression on the Penske's, but that is mostly a high speed adjustment. Limiting suspension travel in transitions goes a long way to make the S2K easier to drive at the limit. For rebound, I run the front very stiff. Basically dial up the front rebound until you get some push, then bring the rear rebound up to the point the car starts to feel more neutral again. While inside wheelspin can be helped by shock tuning, correct springs and or/ swaybars is the best way to address that problem IMO.

Is there a local person that sells Penske's?

Guy Ankeny is the Penske autocross tuning god: http://ankenyracing.com/contactus.htm. He's not all that local to you (LA), but from what I've heard he's well worth the long distance transaction.
