The X-Brace really isn't addressed as being a legal or illegal mod.

We considered it to be chassis reinforcement.

(AP) A Prepared class is what the X-Brace may put you into.

Prepared class rule 15.2 section B of the 2003 Rule Book reads:

Chassis, frame, or subframe may be reinforced, provided components and attachments are not relocated except where specifically permitted. Reinforcing does not authorize the use of belly pans forward of the firewall, or aft of the front edge of the rear wheel opening. It is permitted to have jack pints recessed into the rocker panels, or to have one tube per side extending downward through the bottom of the does provided they do not extend beyond the overall width of the car or in an unsafe or dangerous manner. No part of the bodywork or chassis, to the rear of the front wheel opening, shall touch the ground when both tires on the same side of the care deflated.

Page 144 section 18.1-F. Subframe connectors are allowed, but each connector must be attached individually with out any lateral components attaching the two longitudinal frame rails. Subframe connectors may be bolted or welded.

The X-Brace by design is one solid piece the Digrappa or 2 pieces welded together in the middle like spoon. These braces do not have lateral components that are supported by longitudinal frame rails. The lateral attachment points are individual and they bolt into existing locations that are with in the subframe of the car.

This is a legal MOD in the Street Modified and street modified 2 category. I ran a X Brace at the Pro-Solo and Divisional and we impound our cars so the we can evaluate each others cars, no one protested the X-Brace.

The SCCA is a driver/competitor/comrade policed organization. So therefore if someone feels that your mod is not legal they can petition the mod for a $50.00 fee to the chief solo steward and then you can protest and go from there.

This is my interpretation of the rules that I am reading right now.

JIC coilovers are a pillow ball upermount(not a stock type uppermount) these alone threw me out of ASP, AP and put me in to Street Modified or SM2.

I feel that I am an excellent driver and I will put my driving skills to the test and run against anything that can run in SM2.

there are minimum weight/displacement requirements and F/I displacement and weight requirements.

It is an interesting class.

Since the S2000 is in BS, wouldn't it move to BSP and not ASP?

Stop trying to apply logic to the SCCA classifications.

There's no direct mapping from Stock to Street Prepared classes. Having said that, most B Stock and Super Stock cars go to A Street Prepared, while ironically, the dominant car in A Stock (the C4 Corvette) goes to B Street Prepared.

Replacing the upper mounts with the pillow ball ones is illegal in SM and SM2 !

There are suggestions for a change in the rules to address these next year. But currently they are illegal for ASP, SM and SM2

I didn't replace them, they are already made this way. Again, it is only illegal if my commrads feel that this gave me an edge. This is a self-police sport. I clearly explained to every one at the Pro-Solo that the JIC came with pillow ball upper mount. I didn''t take the stock shock and modify them.

18.1-E page 144 of the rule book reads:

Suspension components are UNRESTRICTED as long as they use the original attachment points. Brakes are unrestricted.

Please go buy a Rule Book before you start blurting out garbage to people.
