I think they should invert the top points paying positions (8 in F1's case).

Qualify First you Start 8th. There would be a lot more passing going on.

Interesting idea. How exactly do you figure out how to sandbag such that you qualify 7th or 8th?

that's exactly what they'll try to do, but since its mid pack its harder to do. Especially w/o being too obvious.

They can also vary/pre-pick the flip point and not tell the teams till after qualifying.
