I have used 4.44, 4.57 and the 4.77 at our local track, PIR in Seattle.
It sounds like you're talking about Pacific Raceways ("PR") in Seattle. There is no PIR in Seattle. There is PIR in Portland (Portland International Raceway) and also in Phoenix (Phoenix International Raceway).

I have 4.77s and they suck for more reasons than I care to explain. I'm going back to stock 4.10s on the race car.
you think they're too tall of a gear? I cant see putting back the 4.10. At least a 4.44 J's website says the 4.77, 4.9, 5.1 are mostly for autocross and are too tall of a gear for road racing. So dont go back to the 4.1 at least go with something a little better.

Oh yeah and ATS is working on a new set that should be significantly cheaper than what they were selling. Lets hope so! All the old ones are gone or at least I couldnt get my hands on one.

It's ridiculous how much misunderstanding there is about gearing. As I posted above, if you want to know how gears really should be selected for a road course, see Race Car Engineering by Paul Van Valkenburgh.
