Brake duct attachment question
Hey all,
I read the other brake ducting thread, but didn't find a satisfactory answer to this question.
I would like to know how you all attached the end of the brake duct tubing to the brake heat shield. On the NSXFiles, there appears to be a specific end piece used, but I can't find it on the 'net anywhere.
Any advice, or help would be appreciated as I am ordering the parts this week (track day on April 21).

I've had the same exact(!) question in mind for quite some time. Brake ducting is available fairly inexpensively through racing wholesale places. That works a lot better than dryer ducting.

I guess best way would be to rivet or weld a short piece of pipe to the shield where the hose could be tied with a hose clamp.
I ended up drilling 4 pairs of 1/8" holes in the shield around the circumference where the hose would be attached. Then I compressed the end of the silicone hose to create a firmer end that I then sewed with safety wire through the holes I previously drilled.
I used Racer's Parts Wholesale's hose.

These are the "nozzles" I came up with to direct the air flow from 3" ducting into the eye of the rotor. I picked up a short piece of standard 3" dia. exhaust tubing & made the deflectors from light guage galvanized sheet metal. I am planning to attach the nozzles to the oem heat shields with "L" brackets.
Thanks for the help so far. I am a bit pissed that no race shop carries these things, I can't believe they would overlook a critical piece like this.

I bought a couple feet of bulk aluminum flashing (at like $ .89 a foot) and made my own flanges with tin snips, an awl, and the old-fashioned rivets you slam w/ a ball-peen hammer. Worked like a charm.
Here's how: when I cut the pattern I left tabs that I folded away from the cylindrical nipple that the hose fit over. Then I just drilled a couple little holes through the dust shield and shot pop rivets through the shield and nipple tabs, and voila, I had me an attached flange!
All that was left to do was clamp the hose onto the nipple with a regular old worm gear hose clamp. Big thanx to MadDane for the know-how and encouragement!
BTW~ I did the same thing to create the flanges to hook up the other end of the hose to the faux ducts in the bumper. I bolted those on instead of using rivets though.
