Now that my trailer has hauled three cars home with broken left axles, I got to wondering if anyone has broken a right axle. My car and Meredith's both tore the splines off of the inboard end of the LEFT axle.

Anyone else know what broke?

Is this Jay? We just had an event yesterday where the start had an insane amount of grip. One of the AP1s broke an axle and my CDV kicked in a couple of times. I'm not sure which side it was though. I witnessed Meredith's (Collett's old car) car break at the Atlanta tour and though it was a rare thing with S2ks. It would be interesting to find out if there is a reason for breaking the right side. Better than a diff I suppose.

DAMN!!! I fat fingered the keys! WE tore the splines off the inboard end of the LEFT axle. I have not heard of anyone breaking the right. That is why I was asking, has anyone ever broken a right?

i broke the spider on the inboard CV joint of the driver's side axle

I snapped the right axle on my 04 at the strip back when I had it. Replaced both, and actually i still have one good left axle sitting in my room

In my experience, right side halfshafts break more often, but in the six years I auto-x'ed my S2000, I broke both, and more than once.
