Bug Spayer ?
I'm on a roll........
I also noticed all the top drivers carrying around portable spay bottles....the kind that has the pump in the top that you might spay buy spray with. Some used it on the wheels some on the manifold. I get the manifold cooling but whats the Voodoo behind spraying the wheels? Is it just water or some other mixture? I was under the impression that cooling the manifold was against the rules but maybe I have that confused with the intake......
Thanks!!

You being a Kumho user should take particular interest in this pratice. The spray bottles are filled with plain ol' water, as cold as you can get it.
Tires, Kumho's especially have a tendency to overheat and get greasy, so I have seen a lot of the faster drivers cool their tires between runs, mosly on hot days. If you are a single driver car at a big event (ie: Tour) it isn't really a problem since you have enough time for the car to cool before your next run. For a two driver car I would invest in one. Now keep in mind the cars I have seen use this have been either front drivers or heavy rear drivers (Camaro) With the S2000 being rather light and well balanced therefore easy on tires I would get a second opinion on whether tire cooling is necessary.
Cooling the wheels will help dissapate the heat from the brake rotors. I haven't seen too many people do this, something about water on the rotors. I would go with a higher heat rated pad.
Running the Mugen thermostat keeps the engine cooler and according to Jason S the S2K engine makes a little more power when cooler. Spraying down the intake cools the actual intake which makes the air going through it cooler. I have seen all kinds of techniques for intake cooling at all levels of events. I think as long as it is done in grid and nothing is cooling the intake during the run spray away.
Hope I have helped.

Pete's right.
When I had my MR2 Turbo, I sprayed the intercooler. Cooler air is denser, thus producing more horsepower. I don't spray my S2000 engine, however, but I suppose there could be at least a theoretical advantage, if done properly. Spraying the engine in grid is legal. You just can't do anything like pack the engine with ice, and drive it on the course that way.
I do, however, when conditions are hot, spray my tires to cool them off. I avoid spraying the wheels, as I believe you could warp a rotor if you cool just one part of the rotor.

It is legal to cool the intake any way that you want. What isn't legal is putting ice in your airbox and driving it that way......
The S2000 does heat up Kumhos plenty to require a cooling down. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's almost mandatory when it's hot. Because the Kumhos get greasy when hot, it makes the car all the more tail happy (unless you get the car to a point of understeer like we now have
)

Ronbauer did I hear Understeer. By what alchemy did you arrive at this conundrum?! I for one exercised this demon believing it to be driver induced and corrected it with a bit of throttle oversteer Yepeeee. What God have you ignored in your prayers to bring down this calamity on your house.??
I have found the S2k a wonderfully light ride in the back and am beginning to enjoy no can I say Rule at my local track with this tendency.
To each his own. Good Racing
