Default Car classification for Auto-x

I know there is FAQ's and SCCA rules that could probably answer this question, but I'm still a bit confused on the where the S stands. I have fried my brain reading threads about different setups, the scca rulebook, and anything to do with the S and auto-x.

I have been reading that the S2k went from B class to A class when the AP2's came out, but when I was looking at the results for recent local events (STL, MO), I noticed that all of the S2000's were falling into Stock B classes.

My Car: (mods in sig) 2004 Honda S2000
mods: Injen short ram intake, skunk2 catback exhaust, 17" stock size asa ar1 rims, michelon pilot sport tires, drilled and slotted rotors

Would I fall into Stock B class? Sorry if this is a repeated topic or if it sounds noobish, but I've never attended an SCCA event and I'm a bit lost.

Your non-oem wheels, rotors, intake, and exhaust would place you in STR rather than B-Stock.

In the most literal interpretation of the rules, removing your OEM radio/cd unit places you in F-Prepared.

Don't worry about class right now- run in X (time only), and get some seat time and experience. If you then decide autox is your priority, reshape your mods around class rules.

The reason I ask is because I'm registering and it's asking me which class and I don't know what to select. I could easily swap the oem radio back in. The sub and amp will be taken out regardless.

if they have a novice 1 class, pick that. if not, run X. if they don't have X, run STR.

hope that helps. glad to see another s2000 owner going to the dark side

This is not quite right. Exhaust is legal. Radio legal under comfort and convenience (it's a swap, not removal), wheels if within 6mm of stock offset, legal. Rotors may or may not be legal (I'd have to check) but nobody will care. Intake would bump you, though. I'd run STR or swap intake and run B-stock if wheels are appropriate size and offset.

The intake was the only thing I couldn't find in the rules that I could justify staying in Stock class. It's all a little fuzzy, but I did email the St. Louis solo officials about my class. I'm sure if I select the wrong class, it can be cleared up while I'm there, I just don't want to have to deal with that.

What is this X class? Is it STX? because thats the only one I find listed. STR is as well. If I have no response tomorrow from the officials, I'll just sign up for STR. I'm just doing this to see if this is something I'll want to invest time and money into for next season.

Also, as this is mostly to see if Auto-x will be something I will enjoy (which I will once I get over the fact that it's something completely new to me), should I be worried about getting an autocross alignment and then going back to stock specs after?

Intakes not allowed in stock. After looking it up, no drilled rotors if not that way from factory. Local regions often have a non-SCCA catch all "X" class. Some have a "Novice" class as well. Make sure you watch the Novice slideshow from the FAQ. Also make sure to be friendly and get a ride along with a vet, the people are the best part of autocross. Welcome and you'll love it!!

Generally not. If you're new, you'll be making errors worth whole seconds. Alignment can get you maybe a second. Maybe.

If you have a stock front sway, I might not bother with the alignment yet as it may change if you do a front bar.

If you do change the alignment, you may want a compromise alignment with less front neg camber (like -1.5) if you do a lot of street driving.

I went through the slideshow. Lot's of info there! Much more than the STL solo website had in their novice video.
