Also, as this is mostly to see if Auto-x will be something I will enjoy (which I will once I get over the fact that it's something completely new to me), should I be worried about getting an autocross alignment and then going back to stock specs after?
Generally not. If you're new, you'll be making errors worth whole seconds. Alignment can get you maybe a second. Maybe.

If you have a stock front sway, I might not bother with the alignment yet as it may change if you do a front bar.

If you do change the alignment, you may want a compromise alignment with less front neg camber (like -1.5) if you do a lot of street driving.
This is actually my daily driver I can't quite afford a daily beater yet so I'm racking up miles on the S.

By the way since you were confused about the whole A stock/B stock thing - they were in A stock a few years ago, but last year A stock became B stock, so in summary S2k's are in B stock now as of last year. So you must have been confused because you were reading posts from different times.

Also, B stock allows race tires, whereas STR only allows street tires (140 treadwear or higher, which I'm pretty sure yours are). Because of that, STR is actually a (slightly) slower class than B stock even though more mods are allowed. So your car will actually be more competitive in STR than in B stock. Also in STR your car is legal without having to change anything. So you should just run in STR.

Depending on your tires, this may not be the best way to go. I daily drive my STR S2000. With my Hankook RS3s, I have 3 degrees of camber in front and 2.1 degrees in rear. The rears actually wore out FASTER because I'm getting wear on the outside. The fronts are worn evenly.

Of course I do autocross a fair amount in addition to it being my daily, so this might not be true if you autocross very rarely compared to your street driving. Might be worth a try though.

Edit: In case this is unclear, I mean I run my autocross alignment all the time, even on the street, and it may actually be less wear on the tires than if I had done a more performance compromising alignment. It's at the very least not a huge difference as far as I can tell.

The intake and the drilled/slotted rotors are not allowed in B Stock. Wheels that are the same size & width, and come within 1/4" of the stock offset, are allowed. Cat-back exhaust is allowed. Stereo upgrades are allowed, but can't be lighter than the stock equipment.

With your current setup you would be legal for STR.

"X" class is a local class -- and "X" means different things to different clubs. In some clubs, it's the indexed class for national level drivers. In others, it's the class for all those other cars they don't have any other place for.

For now, you can run STR -- it really won't matter which specific class you're in, because you'll have some learning to do before you can keep up.

Check to see if there is a local stock-on-street-tires class if you decide to keep autocrossing. Swapping back to the stock intake and OE style rotors won't take much work.

Alignment: The stock alignment eats rear tires -- mainly because of the toe-in required to keep the rear end in line when you don't have a humongous front sway bar. Adding negative camber probably won't appreciably increase your wear rate. Especially on the front wheels, where you can safely set the toe to zero. You can probably only get around 1.8 degrees negative camber on the front wheels anyway since you're running stock suspension.

Installing a front swaybar won't change your alignment, but it may change what you want the alignment to be.

Yes ap2's run in B stock, stock is stock NO CHANGES. We run SSML super street modified because we've added a ton of goodies including SC. IN our region (Las Vegas) STR is a tough class. Stock is best for the S2000 but it must be stock including air filter suspension etc.

Incorrect, air filter can be changed in stock, just not the whole intake. As for suspension- shocks and front sway bar are pretty much totally open. A bunch of other modifications are allowed as well which is why all he'd have to do is put the stock intake stuff back on (can even keep the aftermarket filter) to stay in stock.

Got the email back today and they said sway bar (front) is open, as well any part of the exhaust past the cat, filters are allowed, and much more.

I don't qualify for stock class due to the intake and the wheels. Guess I'll run STR

I'm pretty sure upgrading the stereo/sound system would fall under accessories, gauges, indicators, lights and other appearance, comfort and convenience modifications which have no effect on performance and/or handling and do not materially reduce the weight of the car are permitted.

Of course it's people who make 'literal interpretations' like that that result in rules like: Alternate shift knobs are allowed.

13.2 BODYWORK
A. Accessories, gauges, indicators, lights and other appearance, comfort
and convenience modifications which have no effect on performance
and/or handling and do not materially reduce the weight of
the car are permitted. This does not allow driver’s seat substitutions,
or the removal of “tow hooks”, a.k.a. “tie-down loops”. Delayed shutdown
devices such as the “Turbo Timer”, which perform no function
while the car is in motion, are permitted. This does permit the installation
of an additional mirror (e.g. a “Wink”), but does not allow the
removal of the original mirror. “Grounding kits” specifically designed
to support sound systems are permitted but may serve no other purpose.

15.2(N) The OE radio may be removed. The OE sound system components,
except wiring, may be removed. Any visible holes which result from
the removal of such equipment must be covered.

In combination with the "anything not expressly permitted is forbidden" wording at the beginning of each section, this can be interpreted to mean that in Stock and ST classes, removal of OEM sound system conponents is disallowed.
