I understand where you're coming from, but it won't be interpreted that way. This is very clear cut. As long as he's not saving weight by changing the sound system (which he most assuredly is not), it will fall under the comfort and convenience clause. The rule is very clear - if there is no performance advantage and no weight is saved, then it is permitted. And if that weren't clear enough, it even specifically calls out that grounding wires for stereo equipment are allowed to be added.

The reason that rule you found is there is because it's REMOVAL of the radio (thus saving weight), not changing it for a different one. Removal is not allowed in stock or ST classes.

A new autocrosser is already bombarded with a lot of confusing rules, etc, we don't need to add confusion when things are very clear.

regarding the comfort and convenience section mentioned above:

Radios are accessories, this is a C&C modification that does not material reduce weight or affect handling, It specifically allows grounding kits for sound systems implying that sound systems are allowed, and as far as I have know this rule has ALWAYS been interpreted to allow aftermarket radios.

Please refer to 14.2.A, quoted by TTMartin above. Replacement of the OE audio components with upgraded components of at least the same weight is covered by that. You keep referring to "removal", which is a misleading description of what the original poster has done.

The known allowance for upgraded stereo equipment was the historical basis for allowing holes to be cut for shock adjustment. "Look, I drilled holes in the shock tower cover so that I could mount my tweeters there."

Yes ap2's run in B stock, stock is stock NO CHANGES. We run SSML super street modified because we've added a ton of goodies including SC. IN our region (Las Vegas) STR is a tough class. Stock is best for the S2000 but it must be stock including air filter suspension etc.
Got the email back today and they said sway bar (front) is open, as well any part of the exhaust past the cat, filters are allowed, and much more.

I don't qualify for stock class due to the intake and the wheels. Guess I'll run STR
STR is a great class to run in. It's fun, my local clubs largest class, allows most common street mods (like your intake), more freedom with the suspension, and you can drive your car to the event on the tires you're going to run.

'00-'01 AP1s and CRs have an advantage in Stock over AP2s because of their stiffer stock suspensions. STR lets you modify your AP2 suspension (can done cheaply) to allow you to be competitive with any other car in the class.

Be glad you’re running in STR as it’s the best class

Have fun!!!

I have some plans for my suspension for next season but they may not happen due to my want for a daily driver.
