[QUOTE=Elistan,Feb 18 2006, 06:58 PM] Recording quality is independant of resolution.
Resolutions are 320x240, 368x208 and 640x480.
Qualities are 384kbps, 768kbps, 1mbps and 2mbps.

Thier specs here say 60 minutes for highest quality.
http://www.neurostechnology.com/stor...der2_specs.asp

It almost seems like the amount of data being saved only depends on the quality setting - so 320x240 Super Fine will take just as much space as 640x480 Super Fine...

Ok, folks, this is a great thread!

Here's what I want. Looking to see if anyone has or can come up with anything similar. I am running a PVR recorder. Have a 1GB SD card in it. Have an external mike that runs, too. I have one bullet camera, but want to add 2-3 more and have them all multi-plexed onto the same screen. (4 feeds, one display) I've seen the one with PIP that started this thread, but I want to go beyond. If I can find a way to multiplex, I'm going to switch to a HI-8 Recorder and run that camera between the seats where the 'lil windscreen is.

Any input?

Thanks!
Chris

Just go to google and type "video color quad processor" and you should get links. The Froogle link will show you a bunch at various prices.

Here's a list of a bunch with instruction manuals and spec sheets. Check out the 4 channel one:

http://samsungcc.tv/Default.aspx?TabId=52#97 the GV-Q4CHRTC on this page sells for $189.00 and you can get some that cost around $100. But the more expensive ones have PIP. This is a model that Fry's carries:

I finally found it!!!

4 quadrant simultaneous color multiplexer for $150!

Nice, but as a suggestion, I'd recommend if Fry's (or other B&M) has one that may work to do it there - they have a 30-day return policy. On-line orders make returns a hassle if you don't like it.

That's a good point. I own a computer business so I go to Fry's in Sacramento quite often.

I just haven't been there in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll make a run down this weekend and take a look.

Fry's had a 4 channel quad processor that allowed 1 or 4 cameras at once plus a PIP mode for at least one camera over a full-screen view of another camera. This was a year or so ago. I did see a quad processor a few weeks ago, but I was not looking too close at it to see if it had the same features.

The nice thing about these is you can use those $20-30 cameras with them and they still look pretty good.

I'm looking to get pretty high res. My plan is to get together a good system, simplify it and package it at a GOOD price. I think it's crap that if you want a decent system, you have to pay a ton of money. I think it can be done cheaply and effectively for a relatively low-price if it's simple to build and the components are easy to find. Just have to find the right components!
