Catch can vs actual oil consumption
I went to a track this weekend that is natorious for causing full catch cans and smoke for S2000s. Well my experience was no different. I managed to fill a catch can every session, sometimes I still blew smoke by the end of the session. In all I collected a full quart. The thing is I ended up adding 2 quarts and after my 180 mile drive home I seem to be about .50-.75 quarts off the high mark. Where I was parked wasn't totally flat and I was keeping it at the high mark between sessions. My car is typically a 1 quart per 1k car and has always been this way, so figure maybe .5 quarts from the track miles and drive home, 1 quart confirmed out of the catch can, leaving 1-1.25 quarts unaccounted for. Is this normal in these situations?

Well how much smoke did you get? Obviously smoke is burning oil, so that's oil you're not accounting for.
In my experience it's fairly equal catch can vs oil consumption as long as you don't get to the point where you're smoking. Definitely not twice the oil consumption the catch can captures. But again if you were burning it that makes it hard to say how much you should have burned.

Yeah kinda what I was thinking. The first time was the 3rd session and was before I realized I was filling the can. I got a ton, but pulled in right away thinking something else may have been wrong. After that I stayed on top of it and had maybe 2 sessions where I was blowing smoke towards the end. I can't think it takes much oil being pulled in to make a lot of smoke though, so unless it was making small amounts throughout the sessions that I didn't notice until it was a big dump I don't think this accounts for it.
