First mod I did to my car about three days after I bought it, heh. I love the sound and it cannot be beat for $17. Welded it up at work myself.

good luck!
I am still running the OEM Cat, keep that in mind. However I daily drive it...extremely easy to live with as it has next to zero drone and sounds nearly stock below 4,000rpm. I love it, every minute of it.
It sits really nice too.

Mine read 84db at full throttle. I think the reason it was so quiet was because my turndown was about 30deg towards the passenger side (away from the diff, but not directly at the rear tire). The reader for the noise was to track left, so my dump was pointed away from them.
I angled it this way weeks earlier because I'm lazy and DD with the dump on, and wanted to try to reduce the low rpm noise on the drivers side.... didnt really work. sounds just about the same to me.
Not saying its right to cheat the system, but if you know where the reader is, i would guess that it's possible to register lower if you angle it away from it.

My reading from last year were all from situations where the recorder was on the track's left, so the turndown was angled away from them. My last event had the recorder on track's right, so the turndown exit was aiming toward them.
Sound from track left: 84-86 db
Sound from track right: 90.2-90.6 db
both situations were well below our 100db limit.
Random observation from this weekend:
One of our regulars has an AP1 with this cut-off exhaust as discussed in the first post with a stock cat. Another just installed a J's 70RR, he already had a test pipe.
While working the course we got to hear both run in fairly quick succession, I was stunned that the 70RR seemed to be quieter! We didn't believe it after first runs so we paid close attention for the rest. The cut-off exhaust definitely seems louder to the untrained ear. No dB measurements were made.
The 70RR had a pretty hefty mechanical-sounding rattle on decel that isn't there with the cut-off one.

I picked up another stock AP2 catback and made a quieter version of this. Had a muffler shop custom fit 2.5" tubing and an 18" glasspack muffler. It sounds perfect to me. Moderately more aggressive sound without drone, popping or anything negative. Shed roughly 35lbs and I like being able to hear the car now
This is how the CR should've came from the factory. They made a big deal about weight savings and then bolt on a big heavy dual exhaust
