or you can get another resonator from a s2000 and use it as the exhaust
I'm not sure this is what is meant in the quote above, but this is what I have done. I was able to get a couple stock exhausts from people locally for free. You use a second resonator as the muffler. You cut right in front of the Y and then run pipe up to the second resonator located in the same place as the passenger side stock muffler. See photo below. I consider this a prototype and intend to make another with cleaner execution some day. I used the stock exhaust tip as well. I drive this daily and it's not bad at all. On the highway it can be a bit annoying on a long trip especially under certain loading/throttle positions like when going up mountain passes. My wife still drives in the car with me so it must not be too bad!

My stock exhaust weighed 55 lbs according to my digital fish scale. This thing weighs almost 20 lbs. So, a savings of 35 lbs.

BTW when removing the stock exhaust from the car the chrome tips should be removed first to avoid scratching/denting. I've seen quite a few people trash theirs.

Thanks for the idea!! I did this right before my track day and it's held up great. I would have to say that the hardest thing for me was finding the right size vband. I couldn't find ANYONE that had 60mm vbands... I ended up getting 2.5inch vbands and just had to weld up the excess room. Over all its a great mod if you like having your stock exhaust whenever you want! Heres a video from the track and some pictures. I did basically what the OP did. Great write up!

Engine is completely stock with the exception of a drop in k&n filter.

The dents in the canister aren't from this project...

Oops, I should have mentioned that I just used a 2.5" V-band. It's not much gap to fill with weld. Nice video, makes me miss that sound. It's -7F with a -33F windchill here right now...

What amazes me is that this is lighter than some of the $$$ singles AND quieter. If some Japanese company put this how-to on their website it would be all the rage. LOL! I'm anxious to get my third option put together: a single 2.5" muffler on the passenger side with 2.5" mandrel bent tubing leading up to it. I'm hoping it's quiet enough for long road trips while being a bit easier to put on and take off than the stock mufflers.

Another tip: Be super careful with the stock mufflers, if you drop them you'll certainly damage the chrome tips. I run without the tips for a very subtle look and I've already dropped it twice in the 15 or so times I've had it on and off.
