Default Close ratio gear sets

Just out of interest really, but does anyone offer replacement gear sets for the S2000?

Is anyone here using different gears?

I don't mean final drive...

Not that I know of, seems like the stock close ratio is pretty spot on, if not a little too close depending on your engine output.

4th and 5th are too long IMO, and I've never used 6th on a track.

I am definitely no gear expert, but I am with MB on this one, it would make more sense to only shorten the 5th, 6th gears I think. Changing the final drive and you are also shortening 1-3, or 1-4 effectively, which I don't think is ideal at all for most roads/circuits. Having more efficient top gears seems like a better idea than shortening everything.

In our Quaife tranny, my 6th tops out at 155ish. I would like maybe 160-165, I think.

Exactly. Final diff gears are really a band aid as it just shifts everything down. The more you head towards a 4.7 or higher, the more likely you are to run out of revs at the exit of a corner in the lower gears, and that really isn't ideal at all. Obviously there's another compromise which is; the more you change gear in a manual, the more acceleration / momentum you lose. I've actually gained on EP3s in race situations where they have put in a short FD and had to change 1 or 2 more times than me on a long straight. BUT 5th and 6th are a waste on most UK circuits. I can't even imagine 6th being used on Spa (not sure I get into 5th after Eau Rouge with standard gears) and maybe 6th at the back straight at the Ring.

1/2/3 are geared quite well I think. I'd like to do something with 4/5/6 to shorten them and max out at 150 ish, and really that means custom gears.

Is there anything which can be swapped from other Honda models?

I was going to look at AP2 ratios but suspect they aren't too different.

Interesting ratio comparison:

Looks like M Factory don't do S2000 synchro gears:

^ This. I'd prefer to run stock diff gearing and lower 5th and 6th too.

PPG make some.
PPG S2000 gear options
Far from cheap.

I don't know of any options that make sense in terms of performance/cost. For performance the best options require changing the box.

I don't like things which say POA

I'd go for a sequential but currently not allowed in my series...
