Cobalt XR2 front with Carbotech XP10 rear?
I love the feel of the Carbotech XP12 front and XP10 rear, but the fronts wear out way too quickly. Even after installing front brake vents, I'm only getting 2 track days use from them. I'm going to try Cobalt, with XR2 in the front. Since my rear CT XP10s have several track days left in them, is it OK to go with the Cobalt XR2 front and CT XP10 rear for my next 2 track days (Laguna Seca), or is this an unbalanced combo? I have Toyo R888 R-comp track tires.

Greg, I worn out my XP12 in one day as well. I spoke to Mike Jr about it. He said he has a endurance version of the XP12 that would last 2 to 3 times as long. I believe it's called the RP2. Give him a call.

The balance will be fine, I've done it before. Have you remove your dust shields? I recommend pointing your ducts at the caliper, some of it will flow over the caliper (its a giant heat sink, use it to your advantage) and some of it will naturally be sucked into the rotors eye.

bunta_garage, I'll be at Laguna with HOD Sept 18-19.
Here's a link to my post on brake vents. Both the pads and the discs were in substantially better shape then previous outings, except for the pad wear (and toasted caliper piston dust boots).
Smile, thanks, I'll contact CT's Mike Jr. about higher endurance version of XP12. If it's silly expensive, I'll try the Cobalts for longevity.
