Default Cooling Options

Like many people, my autocrosser is my daily driver. In the Texas summers, I have run across degraded engine performance due to hot temperatures more than once. Therefore, I wanted to see what options I had for keeping things under the hood alittle cooler to keep some of that lost power.

I was reading the rule book last night and it looks like if I want to stay in stock class in Solo II, I can only install a thermostat. I wanted to double check and make sure I was not overlooking anything. The following are all illegal modifications in stock class, right?

- fan switch (mugen or spoon)
- hondata heat sheild intake manifold gasket
- a radiator cap that increased pressure in the cooling system (like mugen or spoon)

I figure the thermostat (and any other things listed above) won't buy me too much in autocross, but it might make moderately slow rush hour in the summer alittle more fun. Thanks in advance for your help!!

yes all are illegal.

The only one that should help w/ the head soak is hondata gasket.

the other parts just turn on stuff earlier but doesn't really affect peak temps other than delaying the amount of time it takes to get there by some small amount.

Install a radmat. Undo two bolts and take it out for your autocross runs, but otherwise leave it in all summer.

I am unfamiliar with a radmat. Could you explain what it is/where to get one?

Great idea! I'll have to check my hood to see if I can do this with my PRM intake in place.

Definitely possible - my gf currently has both a PRM and radmat in her car.

hondata gasket and radmat would also be scca solo a-stock illegal.
