Default CR OEM shock dyno

Hi guys. I happen to have a set of new CR dampers and figured I should get dyno plots for them, since I can't find that info anywhere on the web. Dropped them off with Angelo at ANZE Suspension - really cool shop btw - and here's what they got:

FRONT:

REAR:

Here are a few other plots for comparison:
- MY2001 OEM front (posted by Kaolinte): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-ra...4/#post7018376
- MY2004 OEM (posted by 06Estukay): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-br.../#post20538502
- MY2004 OEM vs Koni Yellow (posted by spa-zz): https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...2f49c61abf.jpg
- Grime's Spec double adjustables (posted by Forcednduckshn): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-ra.../#post18427982

I'm quite new to shock curves and all I can tell is that the CR shocks have more compression damping than all of those listed. I know that CR shocks work great with CR springs for autocross, but what if they are paired with base S2000 springs - would it be an improvement over base OEM shocks? I have this idea to run in B Street on a budget, because there's no chance for the CR in A Street and looks like the SCCA will not move it. Is there a way to figure out which model year's springs will work best with CR shocks?

I'm copying twohoos' data for reference:

Looking forward to learning from everyone. Thanks.

Why not CR springs to suit the CR damper,as designed with those springs.
Thought about after market springs to lower ?

He can't change springs and stay in Street class.

If you already have the CR shocks then run them, should be an okay upgrade on a budget build.
I wouldn't worry about running your slightly softer non-CR springs.

What year is your car?

I drive a CR now but I'm thinking of going back to a base model to run in B Street. I like the CR shocks a lot, compared to what I remember from my last AP1 (which was on OEM then Koni yellow).

The OEM S2k shocks aren't bad, and an S2000CR finished 4th in A/Street a few years ago on OEM shocks. Street classes allow any shock with 2 or fewer external adjustments and Penske 8300s, 7500DAs, JRis, and Ohlin TTX are all available. However, there has never been a consensus on the best tuning of those shocks for the Street classes.

Unless you are at the very pointy end of the speed charts, you should be fine with the OEM springs and shocks. And maybe still ok at the pointy end.

Man, Angelo is the best. When I raced F3/F-Lites he was on our team as the shock guy. Highly recommend him for anything shock-related. The only reason we didn't win the championship that year was because I was a crap driver

I see the Anze sticker. What series were you racing in?

The CR springs are distinctly stiffer than the regular ap1/ap2 springs. If you are changing springs, the front to rear spring rate balance is better with the +06 newer springs. If you are racing stock class (at least in SCCA autocross) you can't change springs at all.

For the price of CR shocks you might as well have custom valve Koni yellows. Sounds you may a spare set, lucky you.

Default Shock valving

How do you make the CR/oem shocks better? Like David, there isn't a concensus. It depends on the driver, and to another extent the surface and tires.

The koni yellows feel good to many because of the higher front/rear rebound, but they have a softer compression rate. I asked for my custom valved Koni Yellows to have more front compression than oem and rears to be bumped up to oem. Of course the revalve has a higher range of front and rear rebound as well. I found that any "Koni builder" references several build specs saved by Koni NA for the s2000.
