Crazy Corolla
I was participating in this NASA event in my 2004 S2000. I was in HPDE2. My friend was in HPDE3 and shot this video.
It is a video of a 1985 Corolla shot from a Lotus Elise. It is amazing how competitive he is. It is a stock engine, modified suspension and reduced weight Corolla. At the last NASA event (March 2011) the Corolla was in time trials. I wonder what this guy could do in my S2000.
Enjoy..

thats the race line you supposed to track all the way out to the work station.

Not to mention that I would never pass on the right, at least that's how tracks in the midwest run things, and so how I learned. I saw a lot of passing in turns as well in this vid. Not the way I'd want to run a HPDE.

Actually, on that turn one would pass on the right. After turn 5 a car would drift to the left to get on line. The passing car would pass on the right. He just couldn't wait
The funny thing is, I watched TT from the front straight spectator area and saw him right on the rear of a Ferrari 430 going up the hill after Turn 1. I love it! Don't you know the Ferrari driver is talking to himself saying "I am not gonna get passed by a 1985 Corolla!" The passing rules for my group (2) allow only passing on 3 straights at Road Atlanta. Not so with the 3 group. Curve passing is good for reducing "trains". I ran with one DE group that allowed curve passing. After I got passed the increased pucker factor, I came to enjoy it.
