We recently installed a Voltex Type III Wing to a friend's car. It is his daily driver, not a track car.
It looks great and everything but after having it on the car for about 500 miles, the trunk got damaged due to the downforce the wing created.
This means the wing is very functional but in the end, we are left with a damaged trunk
Any suggestions/photos on how we can support the mounts to maybe spread the force onto the trunk instead of just using like 4 bolts and putting all the pressure on those points?

We thought about shaving inside the trunk and using some aluminum plates underneath with longer bolts.

Any better ideas??

Here are some pictures:

It almost seems as though the angle of the wing was set to high meaning it was at an up angle and caught air causing it to lift. The mounts are coming off at the front more than the back so the air was essentially ripping the wing off the mounts

Yeah almost looks more like BACKforce not DOWNforce.

I would change the angle of the wing so the downforce is minimal to none.
It is already set at the minimal

The only thing that we are suspicious about is that he is driving the car on the streets, not on the track
We do a lot of high speed roll races here (please no flaming), and the car is reaching speeds of 160mph with this wing on
That much speed might have caused this
The Type III wing has a 2nd piece that has more curve where it creates more downforce through the end
This wing has a huge blade. About twice the depht of my Spoon Wing

I would appreciate a lot if you guys can help on some suggestions on what to do.
BTW, no one tried to rip it off

Another idea that is coming to my mind is this:
Since we angled it to the flattest possible, it is only creating force on the far back. That may be why it is acting as if it is trying to lift the front part If we give it more angle meaning lowering the front part more, it will create more downforce and since it is not only doing force on the far back, it might even it out and since it will create force on front and back, we can prevent the damage to the trunk like this...

How was his handling at speed?

If the wing was creating that much downfarce and it wasn't hit by anything or pulled on by anyone then his front end would have been extremely light and he'd have had trouble controlling it at speed.

If the front end wasn't light then it's not downfarce creating the issue, it's drag or BACKforce as someone else suggested.

Daily driver, not tracked, only high speed roll races. Don't need a wing.
