I have a chance (a few more hours left) to buy a G2X set-up for $571 shipped. Consists of:

G2X Data Logger
GPS antenna and cable
Display dash and cable
12V power / RPM cable
Cigarette lighter adapter pigtail
Three-wire pigtail (power/ground/engine RPM)
128 MB Kingston Compact Flash memory card
Serial communication cable
RAM suction mount for display
Datalink II analysis software CD

The system is 3 years old, but am told is in good shape. Anyone see any reason why I shouldn't buy it?

Hell, I'll buy it for that price.

Yeah...it was an ebay auction I tried winmning last week. Bid with 20 seconds left and was high bidder, but got outbid with 1 second left. Told the seller if they backed out to let me know and they apparently did. The seller has been really helpful since the beginning, so I'm going to go ahead and buy it. I have a week to return it if there were any issues.

Where do most people mount their dataloggers? I am thinking I will mount it behind the seats since I have the interior behind the seats pulled.

I'm still trying to learn how everything works....so much to learn.

Ideally, you'd want it positioned dead center in the car(front/rear and top/bottom).

Added: Mine is in the stock radio location.

You want it to be somewhere out of the way, but still accessible. The accelerometers should ideally be placed at the center of mass of the car, but that's not really a big deal. I mount mine under the passenger seat.

Mine's on top of the transmission tunnel behind the shifter. Not actually a great location, though -- I occasionally jostle the connectors when fumbling around inside the car, which could eventually lead to one breaking or bending.

Would mounting it begind the center console armrest lined up where the console itself would normally be, be an okay location?

Yeah. I have a fire extinguisher and my video recorders back there in that location.
