Default Driving method on HPDE event

Other than having fun with the car and not push it over the limit. I am more concerned about the mechanical reliability of the car.

other then mechanically over-revving ( going into 4th but drop into 2nd type of NO NO's) what is there other things to avoid?

launching the car? hope can get expert advise for my 1st event =)

thanks a lot

OK, here you go:

Choose an event with good instructors. Get one of those good instructors. Assume that the instructor know way more about driving than you do (it's this step that seems to be the hardest one for many young males). If the instructor says you should be doing something different than you are doing, follow the instructor's instructions. Have fun.

That about covers it.

Hmmm, first event at the track and no instructor? That's weird I would ask one of the organizers if there is in-car instruction available and utilize it. Nothing helped me more with the track learning curve then getting information directly from those that have been there and done it. Real time instruction from an experienced driver is priceless IMO.

Also, check any bit of ego at the door. Unless you are a world class driver, here are 2 facts that you will need to accept: 1) You will not reach the limits of the S2000 track capabilities this time out and 2) You will not be the fastest driver out there

Otherwise, have a great time. As far as mechanical problems, don't worry, you can beat the crap out of the car without so much as opening the hood all day long Let us know how you make out

Launching the car? You won't be doing this, most likely. You'll probably do rolling "starts" from the pit lane. It ain't drag racing or autoX or F1!

With the S2k, you should give GENTLE inputs at the wheel, no aggressive abrupt turn-ins a la Fernando Alonso. The S2k (AP1 in particular) has a fair amount of initial turn-in oversteer. Don't let this spook you too bad, though. Do NOT lift off the throttle when you feel this! Just be easy with initial turn-in steering inputs.

yea i have an ap1 =)

well cause the only track experience i had last time was with a FF civic and the car overheated bla bla bla the list goes on

so i wonder the stock s2k rad will be able to withstand the torment of track driving or i should pit every 2-3 laps?.....

and will rev matching be better?

its called a high speed touring event in oklahoma. hmmm anyone ever heard of it?

thanks for your input guys really appreciate it , if there is no instructor i will ask to ride with more experience drivers * he he i know im not fast at all so ego wont be a problem

I would check the oil level before EVERY session.

Watch your tire pressure too. Fresh brake pads wouldn't hurt.

No, just that you picked the wrong HPDE to take for your first time.
