Dunlop Star Spec 1's
Greetings all,
I've got 7 trackdays in the past 3 months on a set of Star Spec 1's. I'm about 2/3 of the way to the wear markers, so there's still plenty of tread left. However, last event I noticed the grip level has really, really fallen off. Two questions:
1: Is that typical for this tire?
2: Should I soften my supension settings to compensate? The idea being that if a firmer setting works the tires harder, a softer setting might provide more grip with a tired tire??
Any comments appreciated, thanks!

I ran thru a set of specs using them for autocross. I didn't see any drop off at all during their life. Each run just as good as the previous except once the tire was down to the wear markers and then it was as if they were rocks. I am talking day and night between two runs. I am told they have a different harder compound under the soft surface. You can visually see the separation between the compounds when you wear down to that point. Check the outside and inside of the tire. Maybe you still have tread at the wear bar but have worn the inside.
The tires are also covered with melted globs and ribs of rubber. I know this is common. What's unusual though, is that I've done 150 highway miles since the last track day and none of it is coming off. Usually, the bits of melted rubber fall off at freeway speeds over a few days. Odd.
