Default Engine Options?

My engine is getting on the high end of the mileage spectrum and I'm worried about racing on Sunday and trying to get to work on Monday. Nothing is wrong with it yet (knock on wood), but I wouldn't mind making some more power either

What options are out there for building or buying an engine? Forced induction would be fun, but I think I would want to get my 111k+ mile engine replaced or rebuilt before I spend money trying to blow it up.

I'm not looking to squeeze every last horse out of the thing, I'm on a slight budget. If I go this direction I would be looking for something that flows slightly better than stock, is reliable enough to commute 50 miles a day, and can eventually handle some boost without worry. A higher than 9k redline would be a big bonus too, I'm addicted to those revs But again, reliability over becoming a trailored drag queen.

Do I have to put my daily driver up on stands to accomplish this? From what I've read, it seems like all the engine builders take months to turn anything around. Will any of these shops sell a complete engine? If not, where I can I buy a spare to have sent to them? What shops would people recommend for the block and head?

Thanks guys, and let me know if there is a better place to post this. But I do plan to continue racing this car in circles so I thought I 'd ask here first!

Inline Pro has a 2.5L stroker kit...you can use the stock head and drop the block in for about $4,500. I really like this option. You should make about 270whp (oh, you'll need an EMS, too) but the kit is said to COMPLETELY transform the driving experience. It's supposed to make lots of low end torque. I'm not sure what redline is set at for these kits. You can buy the complete block for $5,500 (if I remember correctly) and you'll get $1,000 for your block.

This is all assuming you know how to turn a wrench...if you're having someone else do this you'll be looking at hefty labor costs. Good luck!

Assuming I can borrow the necessary tools, I would certainly do my own work. I just wouldn't trust myself on the internals.

270 rwhp is a little high. Mine should be done in a couple of weeks.

Redline is standard 9200 rpm on an AP1. You'll need injectors as well. Also, if you have the head off the car already, you might as well have a little bit of head work done, too.

Any suggestions of where to have the head work done and what to get done? How long have you been waiting on the engine Skip?

Will the stoker kit basically turn my high mileage into a "new" engine (in other words, replace all the parts that would wear) ?

sounds like a decent option.

on your current engine, just check the oil level, beat on it, and enjoy. They can a long time.

The block is sleeved and new pistons are installed. You'd have to check their site for the particulars or call and ask for John 703-445-5805(terrible that I know that number by heart ).

I'm waiting on the pistons to arrive.
My pistons are in!

Why not rebuild engine and run a turbo with low boost for reliability.

Well that's the idea....you want to sponsor me?

I just got out of college, and I can't really justify throwing that much money away (engine work is NOT an investment ) quite yet. IT'll have to be a long term project. I'm just wondering which option I should pursue first (FI or rebuild).
