If you turbo this motor it will NEVER EVER EVER be reliable. Doesn't matter who you are or how much money you have.

Even a built one? Are you speaking from experience? What about SC?

What is your goal? Better laptimes? If you spent the money it would cost to build and maintain a FI S2K on seat time and instruction, you'd be in the top 0.1% of drivers in terms of skill. You'd be able to pilot a stock S2000 on street tires faster than you'd be able to drive your FI car on r-comps and you'd have infinitely more fun.

I know...it's not just better lap times. I have put far more money into schools than mods so far

It's better lap times plus better ET's and trap speeds plus extending the life of my car. Maybe I am trying to do too much though. You do bring up a very good point, I could buy a lot more instructed seat time for the money I am thinking of spending. I just have decide how important going fast in a straight line is.

If straight line speeds are your goal, there are much cheaper platforms on which to go much faster.

Not true. You can run lower compression ratios and do other things to mitigate any reliability issues associated with a PROPER turbo build.

If you just bolt a turbo onto the engine as is...then yes, I agree with you.

Those "other" platforms don't turn, nor are they as fun to drive, nor do I own them or want to. Honestly, if all you want to do is run better lap times, there are much better vehicles to do it with than the S2000. But this is an S2000 forum. I don't expect this to be easy or cheap, I'm looking for advice from people that have gone through the experience.

I should also probably clarifying that I'm not looking to be the next SCCA national champion with this car, but rather be competative and have fun at the same time...without having to blow my engine Nevertheless, I still appreciate the advice and opinions

Does it (honest question)? I see that this sub forum tends to shy away from engine issues for some reason. Why can't we discuss engine issues as they relate to performance here? There is a reason I posted this question here and not in Street Encounters, Forced Induction, or JDM tuning. One of the main things I'm looking at here is realability under heavy load...and not for 14 seconds at a time, but for multiple laps at a time.

Believe me, I've spent the last four years building Formula cars from scratch. I'm not a racing n3wb that wants to build myself a turbo system out of home depot parts. But unfortunately, the cars I built relied on restricted N/A engines with mostly stock internals, that were not F20c's. Hence my lack of knowledge there and questions now.

Heh, that's what my research is tending to show me too

5k new engine
5-6k engine work
8-9k turbo kit and tuning

And that's all with me turning the wrenches.

That's more than I payed for my car
