First Autocross...
So I ran my first autocross last sunday and all i have to say is wow. It was amazing. I clocked a 66.327 on my first run and bested a 57.871 on my last run. I am now hooked. I hope to shave off a few seconds with the addition of my new RE01R's. I was using Riken Raptors at the time of the autocross (came on the car when i bought it) and i was sliding all over the place. Cheers.
Glad you had fun, and its always a confidence booster to drop so much time from your first run.
I feel your pain on the Riken Raptors. I ran the first part of this year on them and recently bought myself a set of used Toyo RA1's and of course there's a huge difference. The Rikens arent all that terrible but they are nowhere near great. The Bridgestone's should help out a bit, but our cars really transform into a whole other beast when really sticky tires are used.
Best to get used to the car on street tires though. Race tires tend to hide mistakes that street tires don't. Build the foundation then when you think the tires are really holding you back (or a good deal comes along) take the plunge. Be warned though, you'll never want to race on street tires again. . .
