Default First track day.

Yesterday I went to my very first track day.
It was on the Dutch TT-Circuit in Assen, it is mostly used by motorcycles but they also have autoracing for a couple of years now.

There is an English web site too.

On the first lap I allready did a 180 coming out of a very tight left hand corner.
With the S-02's warming up it went better and better.
One visit to a gravel pit took some time.

Now, this morning, I noticed a pool of cooling fluid underneath the car.
A rock must have damaged it, might not even have happened on the track.
A new radiator will be installed tomorrow.

The S-02's look really rubbed, enough profile left though, front and back.
Maybe I didn't drive fast enough

The last 10 laps or so I could keep up with most of the cars, some looked to me as dedicated track cars, with roll cages and some with slick tires.

Fastest lap time (out of 29) was 2:15.1 and that is an average speed of 121.4 km/h.

Great fun!

Damn you're brave, do 180 and hit the gravel on your 1st track day. My 1st 2 sessions track day, I follow the lead car in the novice group. It feel like cruising in the canyon. Learn the track learn the car. On my 3rd sessions I move up a group to faster one. It feel like I push the car a little about 70%. Then came the last lap. I had more fun in the last lap because the lead car spin out. So just me and new 911 with slick go a lot faster without a lead car. Tires start to make some noise, I push say 85%. But nothing close to 100% on the 1st day.

Now I'm hook, I have to find myself a time to do more track there are only 3 weekend left for test & tune this year.

hehe...that's what the gravel is for. I've done it. I have found my ES100 offer less ultimate grip but much more initial grip than the S02's. They fade quickly...which actually makes them kinda fun.
