I've popped my track day cherry!
I went to Abingdon yesterday for my first track day and I must admit as a noob I was more than a little apprehensive. Within minutes it was clear what a chilled out atmosphere there would be, with friendly car enthusiasts chatting and admiringing rides.
I took it easy on track initially to build up my confidence of the track and my/the cars ability but eventually was keeping up and overtaking! It was dry in the morning so I was really pushing it and learnt about my driving style and errors. At lunch it chucked it down and I was really concerned about going back out as I've never driven fast in the wet (especially with that amount of standing water) partly through loosing confidence when I spun on the road a few months back. However I am really glad I talked myself into getting on with it and now feel so much more knowledgable about my car and when it under steers, oversteers and actually how well it brakes in the wet.
The day was great fun and the reason I'm posting this is to say a big thanks to Chilled and all the others who contributed to the Track Day FAQ. Without reading his info and taking note of the tips, my track day wouldn't have happened. I certainly agree its addictive and I can't wait to go again.
Sadly there was only one other s2k there and we had a few language challenges when I spoke to him about s2ki/s2kuk. Nice chap nonetheless.

I did my first trackday there too and agree its a great place to start. The tarmac is a bit harsh though and can destroy tyres quite quickly.
Shame they only hold them on a Friday so you have to take a day off work.

Agreed. The bumps onto the main runway where the surface changed were 'interesting'. It was good to see my dodgy geo through the tyre wear though. Another thing to sort out but will wait until coil overs fitted.
