I don't think a NSX motor would fit, as it is a 90 degree V6, vs the J, which is a 60 degree V6 and isn't as wide.
There is an s2k that runs in the VLN series at the Ring in germany w/ an NSX motor in it.

Krazik, I've no doubt that your setup was abused and performed well, but I've rebuilt way too many FI motors to even consider going that route myself. Not to mention to do it right, you're talking a $6k tab just in hardware, unless you piece together something used, and then all the associated installation and tuning costs. To do it right you're probably talking $8k or so when all said and done.
A blower & head work aren't gonna cost that much. Hell even if you include a new short block every couple years, still way cheaper. Since the J series will still need maintenance if you're talking about making 400hp out of it.

If cost and reliability are a concern it can't be beaten to stick with the F22C. The J swap is cool tho.

I agree with Krazik. Even if FI is a cheaper by a few thousand if you're going to make 400hp out of a J35 you're going to need tuning. Anything more than 300hp will require tuning. (they come approx 268hp stock) So tuning becomes a fixed cost.

Stay lighter and stick with the F20C.

I don't. I challenge you guys to summarize that math for me.

New shortblock from Honda: $2800
Decent quality rebuild: $1800

I'm not sure where the headwork comes in... that's not necessary to be reliable. Depending on the year model and tuning system, $1k-$2k in parts and another several hundred in tuning cost is.

This all ignores labor costs, which aren't going to be a lot less than a J swap.

The J35Z2 in the 08 6MT Accord makes 300whp w/i/h/e. I know that for a fact. It's not asking that much given the amount of power and the restrictions they have stock.

Again, I don't think the weight penalty is that much when comparing to an F series with turbo hardware added on. The torque is also hard to achieve without a fair bit of boost (more than would get you to 300whp, for sure).

Just clarification... the J35Z2 is in the 08 6AT Accord
the J35Z3 is the 08 6MT Accord

Also, a lot of people claim 300whp with i/h/e but I am yet to see dyno proven #s.
Stock the car is not 268 WHEEL hp.
This dyno shows the results: J35Z3 Dyno Results Taken from a fresh 08 Accord 6MT, and compares to the TL Type S.

The final figures: 239.5 hp and 224 lb-ft at the wheels.
^^ Corrected slightly for atmospheric temps. Keep in mind this is also FWD figures.

Even with a J37A/J32A2 head with the larger 36mm valves I'd be shocked if it hit 300 wheel hp. Having said that I agree with you that the exhaust restrictions are rediculous. For example, The far exhaust manifold goes under the motor to the front manifold then does a 180 degree turn and then down where it mats up.

Having said that, even with that restriction removed.....

Here is another Dyno with a "V6" in an EG Civic with Header/Intake/Stock ECU. Even with an SRI intake held 2 feet out of the engine bay it only did 264whp on a hub dyno. Sorry I don't know how to link Youtube vids.

Sorry for being a disbeliever but this is why I don't believe they'll do 300 whp with i/h/e. Furthermore, look at how high that motor is sitting in the engine bay. uke:

To further complicate things, Im not even aware of a company that does manifolds/headers for the J35Z motors. Although the newer J-series motors make more power (J35Z) they have integrated exhaust manifolds. Basically, 1 big exhaust port that hangs off the back of each head. No downpipes. Catalytic converters bolt right to the heads.

^^ Having said taht, I don't see any reason not to use an older J35 head. Keep in mind, every 03 and newer Accord + MDX have an electronic throttle, with other models following shortly after. (for the drive by wire guys to consider)

From my limited experience, I'd say the J35Z3 top end atleast is not the best donor motor, and until proven otherwise it can't do 300whp with i/h/e.

If any1 wants measurements let me know. I have an 08 Accord V6MT sitting in my heated garage right beside my MY2000 S2k.

Thanks. I'll make a note of that.

I'm well aware of that difference. A good friend of mine prototyped the i/h/e design in his shop for a major mfr of aftermarket parts that he distributes (and has prototyped for before). I trust him and he has no reason to lie to me. He has no other mods done to the car.

No need to apologize. The majority of the J's aren't all that attractive, I'm more interested in getting the basic swap crap out of the way so I can focus on the engine development, which it appears there has been very little of. With a better geometry than the F22C and some breathing mods, stronger rods, and valve springs... I think that the engine will be capable of much more than the 300 crank or 300 wheel numbers that have been tossed around.

The only thing different about the J35Z3 is the omission of VCM. Which by result the J35Z3 on the MT Accord is outfitted with VTEC, and not the i-VTEC found on the J35Z2. The J35Z3 is also rumored to have greater midrange punch in the powerband, but I haven't seen anyone dyno the 5AT and 6MT cars side by side to verify this.
