Also, like others i think it is more weight efficient (and possibly even more secure) to make use of the car's structure and bring the main hoop to the rear deck rather than the floor. Other people seem to find a way to anchor the side bars while doing that.
I talked to the cage builder who is also putting in a rollbar for me. He told me that because the rear deck is not on the main chassis frame, it would collapse under stress.

Cthree had a bold in rollbar which was secured on the ledge before. The cage builder put his hands underneath this ledge and I could see his fingers through the bolt holes. Therefore from that I could see the ledge was only a thin sheet of steel.

I have seen however that all the guys in Cali weld the cage onto the ledge and am wondering about it. I was also planning to mount the support for the main hoop on the ledge as well until now..

What do you guys think?

it absolutely is part of the frame. Our frame is in the middle of the car (hence high x bone)

This isn't true w/ most other cars.

I put my roll bar onto the rear deck.

I have to admit, I didn't do a ton of inspection on the car to see just exactly where all the frame members are, but I went with the fact that the OEM roll hoops are tied to that structure in that spot. Honda must have thought the deck would hold at least the mount of force that the roll hoops will hold.

Also, note the images on the following web page. http://www.s2000.com/s2k_xbone.php

Notice how the pictured structure comes up to about half-way up the door, just behind the door? Well, that's the rear deck. If you look at the rear deck, you can see the top of those box beams which are the main elements of the rear frame. They are just underneath the rear deck.

Notice that behind the area where the OEM rear bulkhead is (that is to say behind the front lip of the rear deck), the rear deck really is just a deck (except for the beams that stick out back there). That's probably what your builder was looking at. But the front of the rear deck is the heart of the frame of the S2000.

It's a requirement of the rules:

4.2 MAIN HOOPS

Whenever possible, roll cage hoops should start from the floor of the Car and in the case of tube frame construction...

I would need to show that starting the main hoop from the floor was not possible or viable. It is so that's where they go. What is considered the floor is up for debate but since he's the premier cage builder for cars in the series as well as Koni Challenge teams I'm going to bow to his experience on this one. It all works so what do I care?

The use of NASCAR style bars allows the door to be altered. They are not mandatory if you leave the door construction intact.

viable is easy, use the images above to show where the frame is.

But too late in your case. You have such a low minimum weight I would have thought you would have opted for as little added steel as needed.

WOW look's good just a quick question does the main hoop need to be one solid peice not multiple peice's .
In most cases, yes, the main hoop is required by the rules to be one continuous tube, with no more than four bends.
