This is good news for 24hours of Lemons racers though - 200 is the legal threshold for that series. AZENIS RT615K & Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec were the only game in town after the RS2 dried up.
Now there's also the Rival and RE-11A with 200 UTQG. It seems like 200 UTQG is the new 140 UTQG...

I seriously thought this was an April fools joke until I Googled and found the 200TW rating on Hankook's website.

After you mentioned it, i checked my tires!
my fronts were 140 (225/45/17), and rears are 200 (255/40/17)!!
what the..??
I bet the shop didn't even know!

I think Lemons and Chump have as much if not more to do with it. I knew teams that were going through piles of Star Specs in a weekend.

But cool that they are listening!

This x2 We go through 2-3 sets of tires per lemons weekend. Typically we bring 2 new sets and one set of leftover scrubs just in case. On an average race weekend there are 140-160 teams. Usually 40% of whom are on one of the "fast street tires" I.E. Star specs or back in the day RT615's. With the Lemons season approaching 25 events per year thats a lot of tire sales they were giving up.
