Default hard dog rollbar question

I'm thinking about ordering a rollbar so I can attend more track days, but before I do I just wanted to ask and see if any configurations of the bar would limit what you can attend? Or if just the bar and upper harness bar would be fine for whatever I wanted to do with it. eventually time trials and such. Thank you.

The configurations of the bars are for stiffness, double diagonal vs. signal, , or interior plastic retention, high or low mounted harness bar.

It depends on what your local track organization mandates. I am not aware of one that the hard dog/ rock star style bar fails to comply with.

Some organizations mandate that the harness shoulder straps must be mounted properly, which is to say at a certain distance and within a certain angle range (typically 0-20* downward from the driver's shoulders). This is also the safe way to do it, and therefore the method I'd recommend, even if not required.

The Hard Dog low mount harness bar meets these requirements from most driver/race seat combinations. The upper mount bar is too high for many unless you elevate the seat.

Unfortunately, tracked S2k's usually have to lose the bulkhead plastics and sound deadening

Thank you for your replies, I'm trying to stay away from taking out the interior peices as of now although I know I'll want a harness and all before long, I guess I could always get one welded in later on after I convince myself to take the interior peices out.

Sorry, I should have also specified that most organizations will not let you run an aftermarket roll bar with 3-point belts. You'll need race seats and harnesses with it.

Is this for most casual HPDE's or is this only for more serious time trials? I can understand the safety concern on the street with an aftermarket roll bar, but on the track you're always wearing a helmet..? I'm getting a rollbar but am planning/hoping to participate in many HPDE's. I thought the rollbar qualified you to run at most tracks and events..?

I have been running mine in HPDE with no issues. The bar I have has the single removable diagonal and the removable harness bar. I am still using my OEM seatbelt.

NASA will allow it, but SCCA, PCA, BMWCCA, and THSCC all require harnesses.

Safety equipment isnt mix n match. Rollbar, harness, HANS and seat OR OEM 3pt. Not pick 2 or 3. Otherwise your likely making your car less safe in most all situations.

IMO, a HANS is a good idea, especially as you start to pick up speed, but it's not a must-have for HPDE and for very inexperienced drivers it can be a safety risk as it cuts down on vision and therefore awareness.

Again, just my opinion, and I certainly wouldn't go wheel-to-wheel without one.
