Jarno Trulli in the Jordan/Honda F1, with the majestic Sepang grandstands in the background, overcomes blistering heat to be the fastest driver in Friday practice. The Italian bettered Micheal Shumacher's time in the last 5 minutes of practice for the day. Trulli and the two Ferarris were the only cars in the 1:38 bracket, with only three other cars in the 1:39's. Hakkinen was the last car in that bracket in 6th position. Montoya has yet to turn in a complete lap and sits in second-to last.

Well, it was Schumi the master. I was about to turn off the TV set after the first couple of laps (when Michael and Rubens were basically walking away) when Panis Bar spilled oil all over the track and sent both ferraris plowing into the sands... I knew then we had a race!
After the pace car left the track, the easiness with which Michael passed 10 cars was anything short of unbelievable. It just looked the guy was on a totally different race.
It's shaping up to be a boring championship.
Jordan is a very charismatic scuderia. I'd like to see them win. They managed the race well, but I'm afraid that BMW and Michelin are the players to watch.
(ah!, by the way, who is this Montoya guy? where did he learn to race? What has F1 come to to let such unskilled drivers into the chamiponship? )
