That may be the case, but if so, they're falling short of their main competitor, Mazdaspeed Motorsports, which offers support and cheap parts. Not sure why you're griping at me for pointing this out.

Mazdaspeed parts are mostly mediocre market, nothing is really high end. All that stuff can be had for cheap from just about anyone. I'd rather have better names than eibach, kyb, hawk, act, etc. But that's just me.

Their pricing is slightly lower than majestic honda, but shipping is higher. On my order for a headgasket and slave cylinder back in August, the parts were about $5 less, but shipping was about $7 more through HPD. The total order was less than $2 difference between the two (HPD being more expensive) It's pretty much a wash.

ShocK, it sounds like you're not familiar with Mazdaspeed Motorsports.

I was only thinking about the aftermarket parts I always hear my buddy complaining about how expensive the stuff is for his RX-8, like the plastic bumper they want $1500 for.

Honda really isn't that hard to get deals on, without the dealer giving them away that is. Also we're comparing miata market to S2K. Production numbers are twice as vast, so Mazda and most companies that provide parts have access to mass production pieces and can afford to sell them cheaper due to their extensive production and cheap price of production.

IMO HPD should focus on producing parts that other companies have to spend tons of R&D on in order to make a decent part. Such as ECU's (fully programmable), Aero, brake and suspension components that really the developers will know best to make anyway. Some AL contorl arms would be nice

It's not that parts for a Miata are cheaper than parts for an S2000. That's obvious to everyone. It's that Mazda Team Support's pricing is pretty close to dealer cost, and Honda Performance's prices don't sound like they are. Are they?

Steve, there are some Mazda parts dealers that come close to the Mazda Team Support prices, at least on some parts. Trussville Mazda did the last time I checked. It's been a while since I checked, because as a member of Mazda Team Support, there was no reason to check prices anywhere else.

I won't say that I'm against having a financial penalty for making an RX-8 even uglier.

For the OEM stuff they should definitely do what they can, who knows their intentions for this new venue. I just want that Honda R&D ECU that was in the CR at the Detroit auto show
