How to make my S2000 faster than a Lotus SC Elise?
Hey guys,
I just finished installing a Comptech supercharger w/ aftercooler (275 rwhp) and Tein suspension on my 2005 S2000. My next mod will be 17x7.5 and 17x9 Volk Racing wheels with either Advan Neovas or A048R.
Assuming the same competent driver, what other mods do I need to make my car turn substantially quicker lap times than a Lotus Elise or Exige? How about an Elise Sport w/ a supercharger?
I have a buddy that is planning to install a factory approved blower on his Elise Sport and I was just curious what it will take to make my car faster on the track. I don't want to go to extremes to reduce the weight, except for basic stuff like seats, wheels, battery and etc. This is just friendly competition among friends of course, but serious nonetheless.
Thanks
Tony

A second supercharger, or a type-r badge.
You're question is hard to answer. Assuming equally incompetent drivers, I think you're car may already be faster than the Elise.
For the supercharged Elise, maybe try cheating. If you're going to be racing on a real road course and if you're using an AMB like timing system then try driving through the pit lane but don't actually get on the track, just exit back into the pits. That should give you substantial reduction in lap times.
I don't know what other advice to give you but to stop being a retarded bench racer and just go out and race your friend

I'd get some V710 Victo-racers instead of the Advans. They're a track only tire that have incredible grip. How much do the Volks weigh? I'd go for the lightest wheels you can to reduce unsprung weight.
Your problem is you're at least 800 lbs heavier than an Elise. I think you'll be hard pressed to outcorner them. On a track with alot of straights, you should be able to outpower them. On a twisty track, I be willing to bet you're out of luck. Weight means an incredible amount.
Did you get a reenforced diff with that setup or is the 2005 diff strong enough to handle the added power?

We have been at Button Willow and Spring Mountain a couple of times and driven in the same run group a handful of times. Clearly his car is able to carry more speed than mine in the corners. We have done a few roll ons and my S2000 is decidedly quicker. However, once he gets the supercharger, he will have an advantage in power and handling.
Basically, what mods will I need to get my car to handle better and carry more speed under track conditions?
We are attending HPDEs, so they generally do not allow timing equipment.
Serious replies would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I was recently advised that "a trained monkey" could drive an Elise fast, but an S2000 definitely responds well to seat time.

I am considering the CE28s, which are quite light. Maybe 16-17 pounds?
I have the stock differential, but I am assuming it will hold up.
Thanks.
