How often for oil change on a race car?
Hey guys,
I have a quick question to ask regarding race car engine maintenance. For those who run their car on the track only (full race cars), what is the starting procedure for the car after long durations of storage? Say there are 2 months between races, upon starting the engine after the 2 months, do you guys change the engine oil before firing up? I am asking because I don't know if it is okay to repetitively fire up the engine after relative long durations of inactivity, as would be the case for a race car that only fires up for race weekends.
Also, if one does not change the oil after each fire up, then how often should oil changes be done? (approximately)

I would contact them and see if their tests could help you decide what to do. If so, I would probably get a sample after the car has been sitting for a while and send it off, but change the oil that time while you wait on results.
....
If you were planning on not testing, I probably would not change it after two months. I typically still go by the three months deal. If I raced on fresh oil, then the car sat for two months, I would race on the same oil and then probably change it after that race and be ready for the next one.
