I did a few HPDEs and must say it is absolutely the best thing you can do. It will help you understand the handling and how to drive the car correctly.

My favorite moment was on the straight at Laguna Seca doing 135mph into a hairpin turn while on an undulating surface. Trailbraking is your friend.

With 124,000 miles on my car I've been wery of going to the track and risking blowing it up. The wear and tear on the motor is much greater at a track. On the other hand autocross is a blast! Throw some 255's on the front of your car and you got a good start at prepping for a str car. (see str thread) Although there is a local that has a few track records in a s2000 and is begging for me to try out the track thing. So maybe next year I'll check it out.

We'll be at Road America from Sept 17th to September 24th for the SCCA runoffs. If you can come out and watch what a toke on the HPDE pipe turns into!!!!!!! I was absolutley hooked 5 minutes into my first track day. Plus you live 35 min from one of the greatest road courses in the country.
All that being said: DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whenever I call out someone on a forum for ranting about how lame autocross is, it soon comes out that they're not very good at autocrossing. Coincidence? You be the judge.
Autocross isn't lame, its the 2 minutes of seat time and 2-3 hours of running after cones that sucks.

I never auto-xed or went to a track until about 10 months ago......Now, after my first trackday......I go about 1 per month. I would sell my soul to be able to run everyday and wouldnt feel bad.

track days are the best thing about this car.

it's an expensive habit, though.

autox and hpde are both fun and both different. and being really good either one is REALLY hard

Auto-x is great as it allows you to really explore the limits of your car and your ability in a safe environment with minimal risk of injury or damage.

Track is addicting because of the adrenaline rush associated with high speed/higher risk driving.

Auto-x has helped me tremendously with my comfort level on the track and given me the confidence to go faster at the track. Both had their strong points and doing both has make me be a better driver in general.

I didn't get to go this weekend mostly because it was such a last minute thing. I realized that I wasn't prepared with the things that I might need at the track. I will for sure get an auto-x in this year yet, I have a friend that wants to do one as well so that helps having a friend along. Eventually I would like to get out on RA, guess I will see how its looking for October with that MVP tracktime group...

That sounds like it would be fun to come and watch, I'm sure I can make it up there to check it out
